August 2022 - New Paper Published
Sahiti's work on RPA-Rtt105 regulation has been accepted for publication in Nature Communications.


July 2022 - Sahiti receives a prestigious F99/K00 grant from NCI.
Congratulations to Sahiti Kuppa on receiving a five year F99/K00 grant from the National Cancer Institute. The grant supports her final year of graduate studies and SLU and four years of postdoctoral training. We are super excited!!!!!!

March 2022 - Antony Lab welcomes a new team member.
Dr. Rajnandani Kashyap has joined the group as a new postdoctoral fellow. She will be working on the DOE-funded projects related to oxidoreductases. Noah Englander has joined our team as a research technician. Noah will be assisting with the protein purification needs.

Congrats to Jaigeeth! He was selected to give a talk at the BPS Annual Meeting in San Francisco. He presented his structural studies of homologous recombination.
Both Rahul Chadda and Jaigeeth Deveryshetty also presented posters at the conference.

Dr. Vikas Kaushik who was a research associate in the group has been promoted to a postdoctoral associate position in the group. Congrats Vikas - well deserved!

September 2021 - New paper published in ACS Chemical Biology
Our paper describing incorporation of dual-fluorescent labels in collaboration with the Mehl group has been accepted for publication. Congrats to Sahiti Kuppa who carried out the dual-labeling of RPA for this work!

May 2021 - NIH S10 Grant funded for new AUC
We have received a new grant from the NIH to get a new Analytical Ultra Centrifuge. Congrats to the faculty at SLU Biochemistry and Biology departments for this joint effort!

May 2021 - NIGMS Supplement Funded
Marisa Sadauskas, a junior at SLU, is supported this summer through a supplement award from NIGMS. Marisa is investigating how phosphorylation alters RPA function. Congrats.

April 2021 - DOE grant renewed
The Department of Energy, division of basic energy sciences (DOE-BES) has funded our 3-year renewal grant proposal to continue our work on electron transfer in photosynthetic enzymes. Thanks to DOE for the continued support and CONGRATS to the team!

April 2021 - New paper published in MiMB
Our paper describing the procedures to generate fluorescent proteins using non canonical amino acids is published as a chapter in Methods in Molecular Biology. Congrats to Sahiti Kuppa and former grad students Nilisha Pokhrel and Elliot Corless. This was a nice collaboration with the Origanti research group at SLU. Congrats to all!

January 2021 - New paper published in PNAS
Our paper in collaboration with Xiaolan Zhao's group at Memorial Sloan Kettering is now accepted for publication in PNAS. This work shows the relationship between Srs2 and RPA levels in controlling genomic stability. Congrats to Sahiti Kuppa and Nilisha Pokhrel from the Antony group who are authors on this paper along with the Zhao group.


January 2021 - New team members
We welcome Dr. Rahul Chadda (Sr. Scientist) and Dr. Vikas Kaushik (Research Associate) to the group. Rahul comes to the group from Washington University in St. Louis and is an expert in single-molecule TIRF imaging. Kaushik arrives to our lab from India will be working on RNA binding dynamics of multi-subunit RNA binding proteins. Welcome!

January 2021 - New paper published in NAR
Faiz's and Jaigeeth's paper describing the dynamic conformational changes in RPA upon ssDNA binding is now formally published in Nucleic Acids Research. This work was a fantastic collaboration with Brian Bothner's group at Montana State University. Congratulations to the team!

November 2020 - New paper published in JBC.
Elliot's paper describing the autoinhibitory role of the disordered N-terminus of BchL is now formally published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. This work was a fantastic collaboration with multiple labs including Drs. Nozomi Ando (Cornell), Brian Bennett (Marquette), Brian Bothner (Montana State), Sofia Origanti (SLU) and Lance Seefeldt (Utah State). Congratulations to the team!

November 2020 - New paper published in JBC.
Our paper describing collaborative work with the Gilbert lab on the mechanism of kinesin-2 is published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. Congrats to Nilisha.

August 2020 - New paper published in JBC.
Elliot's paper describing asymmetric electron transfer in DPOR and the role of substrate binding in establishing the asymmetry is now formally published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. This was a fantastic collaboration with Dr. Brian Bennett at Marquette University. Congratulations to the team!

July 2020 - Lab receives a supplement grant from NIGMS.
The NIGMS has provided us with a supplement grant to purchase a new fluorometer. We are rapidly adding to our biophysical toys and this new instrument (a PCI from ISS Inc.) will be invaluable to our research.

June 2020 - Kaitlynn receives summer support from NIGMS
Kaitlynn, our fantastic undergraduate researcher, receives summer support through a supplement from NIGMS. Congratulations!

May 2020 - Emma headed to become a MD-PhD at MCW

September 2019 - The lab welcomes the first cohort of postdoctoral fellows
Jaigeeth Deveryshetty, Dwaipayan Das Gupta and Faiz Ahmed join our team as postdoctoral fellows. Welcome! Jaigeeth received his PhD from the Indian Institutes of Technology (Mumbai) and was a former postdoctoral fellow at Saint Louis University. Dwaipayan received his PhD from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (Mumbai, India) and was a former postdoctoral fellow at Temple University. Faiz received his PhD from the University of Konstanz (Germany) and was a former postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

August 2019 - Lab moves to Saint Louis University School of Medicine
After 4 wonderful and productive years at Marquette University, our lab has moved to the Saint Louis University School of Medicine at the Doisy Research Center. The view of the St. Louis Arch from the new lab is not shabby either! A big thanks all our friends and colleagues at Marquette for so many awesome memories...

Interesting fact: Her PI gave his first formal conference talk at the very same auditorium in 2008.

September 2018 - New paper published.
Our work on the utility of phosphate binding proteins as a phosphate removal tool during water purification, in collaboration with the Mayer lab (Dept of Engineering, Marquette University) was published in Water Research X. Congrats Nilisha!

August 2018 - Three papers published.
We have three new papers published.
The first paper, in collaboration with the Galletto lab at Washington University, describes the mechanism of Rim1  (Singh et al, Nuc. Acids Research).
The second paper is a review article, in collaboration with the Seefeldt group at Utah State, presents a new model for Nitrogenase function (Seefeldt et al Accounts of Chemical Research).
​The third paper, in collaboration with the Balci group at Kent State, describes a new tool to correlate Force and Fluorescence measurements in single molecule experiments (Mustafa et al Biosensors and Bioelectronics).

August 2018 - NSF MRI Grant Awarded
Our MRI grant was funded by the NSF to build a TIRF microscope at MU paving way for single molecule experiments!!

June 2017 - Lab Celebrations
The lab celebrated various milestones.
Nilisha and Elliot passed their qualifying exams and are officially 'candidates' towards their PhD.
Dr. Origanti has secured her independent tenure track position at Marquette and will be starting her own research group this Fall.
Nilisha's paper has been accepted for publication.
